About

No one is more surprised that I am a pastor than me!  An agnostic/atheist  from 18 to my early 30’s, I never thought I’d be IN a church, much less UP FRONT leading worship.  This blog is a place for theological and personal reflections of an unexpected Christian and Pastor.

If you want to know something about how I ended up back in church, you can read my post “Driving Home.”

As a former contestant on JEOPARDY! and Who Wants to be a Millionaire, there is sure to be ample trivia in these posts as well.

Currently, I’m pastor at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Millersville, Maryland.  I’m blessed to have an amazing wife and two awesome young adult kids – a son and a daughter.

I’m writing a book about how God grabbed me called Too Smart for God, because that is what I thought I was.  I’ll post some excerpts from the book occasionally.  You can read them by clicking on the “Too Smart for God” category on the right side of this page.

You can contact me using the form below.  If you enter your e-mail address, I’ll get back to you . . .

You can’t possibly be wearing a size six collar as portrayed, can you? I’m an LCMS pastor (formerly ALC during your atheist days). Enjoyed your post. Blessings in your ministry!

You sound just like my husband, he’s heading for ordination and nobody was no surprised than he to have woken up one day to say ‘I’m going to be a priest’. Enjoying the blog immensely! Thank you

    • Thank you for your comment – and I apologize for my delay in responding. Busy-ness has kept me away from the blog for a while. Blessings to your husband and to you as you navigate the road God has guided you on.
